Into da Jaws of Deff

When Black Squiggoth's best frontman Buzzy Buzzborn returned from his dynamite fishing trip and arrived at the Wurrgong Stage, he gawped at the devastation he found.

The Crooked Hand Waaaagh! showcase, part 3 of 3

The Crooked Hand Waaagh! This week: the blue boyz on the left. Image credit: Boris Altemeyer This is the third and final installment of the late great Mr Sarton's orks, and this time, we're zooming in on the dodgy geezers of the army: the Deathskulls. If it's not nailed down, they'll nick it. If it is nailed down, they'll use a crowbar. As with the Bad Moons of part one , or the Blood Axes of part two , you can expect extensive conversions and even more extensive weathering powder. The reason I've left the Deathskulls until last is because, while you're not going to see a masterclass in painting or sculpting, this force is  a masterclass in theming your force. Perhaps more importantly, we're finishing here because the Deathskulls include Bunkah's Wrekkin' Krew, a unit that I think completely sums up Mark's approach to the hobby, and therefore forms a natural conclusion to this whole thing. 2018: Japanese Year of the Airbrush

So it’s 2019 (It’s been 2019 for a while – Ed.) and what better time than the beginning sort of the beginning of the year to reflect on all the wonderful things that happened in 2018. Like many in the Beard Bunker, 2018 was the year of getting some of my bigger projects off the table and into the display cabinet. In particular, and following my moderate success with a Panther , I could finally start seriously using the airbrush – and for me, 2018 was the year of the airbrush. First up, I got two ‘Nauts finished. Dorkanaut Borkanaut I also gave them something to carry around and effectively started a Blood Axe faction for my Ork army at the same time.  Mek My first Camo Skorcha & Doc Dakka and Dakkaer Overheat? Never?  The Badmoon Nobs / Flashgitz are conversions I built for a campaign that finished in 2010. There's nothing like finishing something just in time, and this was nothing like finishing somethin...

Ooo Dakkaz Winz! (The Speshul Ork Service)

There is a rumour, that somewhere amongst the savage forces of Warlord Skumrenda are an elite force. Selected from the kunnin'est and the killiest nobz to be the best of the best of the best of the... something. They are the Speshul Ork Service and they mean business: I'd been meaning to make something like this unit from the moment I started to collect Blood Axes, a special forces unit of orks full of Dakka and punching. Eventually they will be riding in their own Chinork transport but I've yet to settle on how I want to make it. For now, they'll ride in the Battlewagon. Some might be looking at the weapons choices and cocking an eyebrow but these are no normal shootas. Oh no. These are kustom shootas and this unit alone can kick out 40 assault shots a turn... Of course, it wouldn't be Orks without some close combat punch to back up da dakka so there's a couple of power klaws, a killsaw and a big choppa among their number to deal with tricksy targets i...
